Historical Landmarks

This theatre is the fifth most significant Roman amphitheater globally in terms of size and preservation, after those in Bosra and Palmyra. Built in the early 3rd century CE under the Severan dynasty, it reflects the era’s architectural advancements. Later, it was repurposed as a defensive fortress during the Islamic period. The theatre could seat up to 8,000 spectators.
