Historical Landmarks

The Harbor of Kharab stands as one of the most ancient natural Phoenician harbors, distinguished by its unique geological formation. Its natural contours were sculpted by the forces of nature rather than human intervention.
The Phoenicians utilized this harbor as a vital commercial and military port, serving as a crucial link between East and West. A fortified castle once stood here, later destroyed by the Mamluk Sultan Qalawun after a siege.
It is inherently a naturally fortified harbor.
Today, local fishermen continue to use it, and it accommodates approximately 20 fishing boats.
The harbor remains a testament to the Phoenicians’’ ingenuity in selecting maritime sites.
