The cathedral serves as the seat of the Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese in Aleppo and is located in the Sulaymaniyah district. It was built from local limestone and adorned with Aramaic decorative motifs. The cathedral suffered damage during the conflict in Syria but was restored with Venetian glass panels. It hosts an exhibition of manuscripts that highlights the transfer of Syriac literature to Aleppo in the 17th century, showcasing the city’s role as an important cultural center during that period.
