Aleppo

Baghdad Railway Station (Aleppo Central Station)

Historical Landmarks

Designed by the German engineer Henkel, the facade has a Neo Baroque style crowned by an original Berlin clock. It was the first and largest railway station in the Middle East, and the second in Aleppo, after the Sham station located in the Jamilieh district. The waiting hall is made of oak wood and decorated with iron passageways. The railway line was closed in 2012 and reopened later in 2024 to serve a trial route between Aleppo and Latakia. A small museum inside showcases the 1913 tickets and photographs of the Wonder Train.
