Church of Holy Girdle

Religious Monuments

The Church of the Holy Girdle is one of the oldest and most important churches in Homs. It is famous for housing a relic believed to be the girdle of the Virgin Mary, which she is said to have worn herself before it was sent to this church. The girdle was discovered in 1852 during restoration work beneath the altar and is considered one of the holiest and rarest Christian relics associated with the Virgin Mary.
