Heritage Houses

The Anton Traboulsi Palace exemplifies the architecture of opulent Homsi homes from the late 19th century. It was built by the merchant Anton Traboulsi, the first president of the Homs Chamber of Commerce (1913-1928), in the Bustan al-Diwan area near the Orontes River. The palace features an arched entrance leading to a courtyard with a well, surrounded by halls with decorated wooden ceilings and colored tiles imported from Marseille. The upper floor housed a reception salon adorned with oil paintings depicting Mediterranean scenes. The integration of a local oven (taboun) and traditional woodwork with imported European details makes this an early example of architectural modernity in Homs.
