The Ottoman Clock Tower of Homs was built in 1925 with funding from Homs merchants to commemorate the adoption of the Gregorian calendar. Standing 21 meters tall, its facade is inlaid with black basalt and white limestone decorations, and the clock features German gears from the “Kienzle” brand. The tower underwent comprehensive maintenance in 2010, and its hands were replaced with a lightweight carbon fiber version. It was reactivated in 2019 with an electronic mechanism that mimics its original precision, becoming a focal point for walking tours in Clock Square and a backdrop for cultural events promoting Homs’ Ottoman heritage.
