Perched 85 meters above the city, Yabroud Castle has crowned “Tel al-Qabʿ” since the time of the Hittites.
Its current form dates back to a brief Crusader occupation around 1140 CE, after which it was fortified by the Mamluks. Visitors encounter a small inner courtyard surrounded by walls two meters thick, while a rectangular tower rises as a testament to a surveillance system that once controlled the route between Homs and Damascus. A 1364 document indicates that the castle served as a refuge for Yabroud’s inhabitants during Bedouin raids.
