Gates and Towers

The sole gate that has maintained its original Roman design, Khalid ibn al-Walid entered through it when he vanquished Damascus. Characterised by its Roman triple design, it is located at the end of the Straight Street.

Special Details

It has three gates, and its stones were later reused to pave the floor of the Umayyad Mosque. Roman era, late 2nd century AD.
