Manjak Mosque

Religious Monuments

Constructed in 1370 CE within the Al-Midan district, the Manjak Mosque served pilgrim caravans en route to Daraa. Its distinctive black and white basalt masonry became a visual landmark for the area, while its intricately carved wooden minbar remains one of Damascus’s oldest continuously used pulpits. Despite concrete renovations between 1975 and 1995, its fundamental Mamluk character has been preserved, and today the mosque functions as a center for Sufi preaching.
