Beit Farhi

Heritage Houses

Beit Farhi is considered one of the most significant Jewish houses in Old Damascus, constructed by the immensely wealthy Sephardic merchant Weitzel Farhi in the late 18th century within the Jewish Quarter. The inner courtyard features ablaq marble and a gurgling fountain audible from the moment one enters, while the hall’s ceiling is adorned with gilded botanical paintings that retain the vibrancy of their metallic pigments.
