It was established in 1967, and is considered one of the oldest Souks in the city of Daraa. The name was inspired by the famous Al-Hamidiyah Souk in Damascus, and it was the first covered Souk in the city. It once served as a gathering point for grain caravans heading to the shores of Haifa.
