Constructed in 1234 CE, Al-Tawba Mosque stands on the northern bank of the Barada River, symbolizing “repentance” and the spiritual renewal of the city following the Crusader occupation.
Its Ayyubid architectural character is evident in the use of black-and-white ablaq masonry, a hallmark of the period, as well as in its short minaret capped with a distinctive pyramidal finial.
