Historical Schools

One of the historic schools dating back to the Ayyubid era, attributed to Sultan Al-Zahir Ghazi ibn Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi, is located south of Bab al-Maqam. The school features an inner courtyard surrounded by lecture halls and student rooms. Its exterior and interior facades are adorned with intricate stone decorations, showcasing architectural elements such as muqarnas and pointed arches. It is distinguished by its ornate entrance, which culminates in broad muqarnas formations. Additionally, the prayer hall includes three domes and a beautifully designed mihrab. The structure also contains a high iwan and domed rooms that once served as accommodations for students of knowledge. At the center of the courtyard, there is a square basin with lobed corners, reflecting the elegance of Ayyubid architectural design.
