Gates and Towers

Named after Saint Thomas, the building combines Roman and Islamic styles. It became the gateway to the Christian quarter of Damascus, and it still stands as a symbol of religious pluralism today.

Special Details

Topped with an arch and two prominent balconies, with an inscription on the lintel dating its renovation to the Ayyubid period. Zengid era, mid-6th century AH.
