Hammam al-Sitt

Traditional Public Baths

Hammam Al-sitt dates back 950 years, built by Aisha bint Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi in an old architectural style that makes the place warm in winter and cool in summer, dedicated to women only. The hammam consists of “”Al-Barani”” outside section, “”Al-Wustani”” the middle section and “”Al-Jawani”” the inner section. Visitors are received in the Al-Barani section where they change clothes and enter the Al-Wustani section. Those who can tolerate more heat enter the Al-Jawani section where there is a firehouse and dense steam. Some people take advantage of this by lying down to relieve back pain. Eventually, the hammam began to receive women and men at separate times, becoming known as Hammam al-Nahasin. It still retains its historical significance and opens its doors to visitors.”
