The khan was constructed on the western side of the Salkhad Citadel, in an area that formed a crucial intersection for trade routes between southern Syria and the Hejaz. It was built to serve trade caravans and pilgrims, featuring rooms for merchants’ accommodation and an open, inner courtyard. This structure exemplifies a simple, defensive architectural style and stands as a testament to Salkhad’s historical significance as both a commercial and military hub.
