Outside Bab Touma, the Sheikh Raslan Mosque stands as a Sufi pilgrimage site since the 12th century. It was founded around the tomb of a Damascene craftsman who transformed into a revered sheikh, whose miracles became legendary, thus establishing the mosque as a beacon for spiritual paths. Brass lanterns hang at an arched entrance framed by ablaq stonework, while the shrine emanates the scent of dried juniper, customarily burned by devotees for blessings.
