One of the ancient gates of the old city of Aleppo, located on the southern side of the city, is believed to be named after the shrine of the Prophet Ibrahim in the area, which was used as a lstarting point for small local pilgrimage processions. In front of the door is a stone apse that is believed to have been used to perform prayers or supplications before embarking on the pilgrimage, as the apse has circular inscriptions that are said to symbolize the “”seven heavens””. The door underwent restoration work in 2019, where lime mortar was used to fill cracks and reinforce the stone structure. A virtual pilgrimage route was added via QR codes explaining the route of the procession from the souq to the shrine.”””
