The Al-Hashish Souk (Al-Zahrawi Souk)

This is the oldest spice and perfumery market in Homs (18th century). It was originally designated for selling the medicinal plant “Syrian hashisheh” before it was converted to selling soap and oils. Its wooden roof with upper light openings is still intact, and the basalt arches have been restored with original stone.
