Its design features an open courtyard centered by a marble pool and surrounded by an arcade of arches resting on harmoniously proportioned marble columns. The school also boasts a muqarnas dome over the mausoleum chamber, showcasing the remarkable craftsmanship of Ayyubid muqarnas sculptors, and is adorned with a foundation tablet inscribed in elegant Thuluth script.<\/p>\n<p>In the 16th century AD, the building was transformed into the lodge of the Naqshbandi Sufis. As a result, lectures continued to be held at Friday dawn and at sunset, and one of the rooms was converted into a manuscript repository that houses rare copies of Ihya\u2019 and Ash-Shatibiyya.<\/p>\n<p>The Syrian\u2013Italian project of 2007 restored the dome using a blend of plaster, lime, and a glass fiber mesh.
