They include offices for board members and working committees, a richly stocked library, a permanent exhibition of key heritage artifacts, and a lecture hall where cultural events and public lectures are held.<\/p>\n<p>The Society was originally founded in 1924 under the name \u201cFriends of the Citadel and the Museum\u201d, in protest against the removal of a significant historical element from a mosque inside the Aleppo Citadel by the French garrison.
